Mariners Continue to Struggle

Hard to say about the Mariner game on Wednesday night except that Iwakuma and the offense both had a bad night. This month it has been one or the other most of the time.

Mariners play the final game in less than three hours in Detroit so at least the misery of the road trip will be over whether they win or lose. There was hope going into this road trip of ten games because the Mariners had the best road record in the majors. I am sure that is no longer the case. I am sure there are some who still have optimism when returning to Seattle. It would be nice to see a win to at least have some hope in coming home.

The coaching staff can only do so much themselves right now. The players have to decide that they are tired of this and turn things around. You can blame it on ailing starting rotation however they did a good job for much of the trip while the offense decided to go silent most of the time. The true optimism is that the team was in almost every game so a few things have to change.

I am sure you know where I stand on trades. It is nice they added LeBlanc to the starting rotation especially to give more depth when Felix and Miley come off the disabled list. TaiJuan Walker is expected to return next Thursday so we will have to see where that goes.

The bullpen gave up a full share of home runs on this road trip but I don’t think they were the major problem. It was either the rotation or the hitters. Of the key hitters I will stay silent on because we know who they are did not have much going on this series except for Kyle Seager on at least a couple occasions. James Paxton had a great performance for at least five innings but other than Seager’s home run the Mariners were unable to score runs. This road trip had a real chance for the team to win instead of falling on their faces. They may have to look at some video from April and May to see what things were like when they were winning. I can hope for July and beyond but the players have to believe in themselves. I hope at least another trade will happen in the next couple weeks. I don’t want to wait until the all-star break or after. Nothing more to say except let’s go M’s.
